Privacy Policy

Compress (hereinafter referred to as the “Website”) has established the following privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Policy”) regarding the handling of privacy information in the services provided on the Website (hereinafter referred to as the “Services”).

Article 1 (Personal Information)

The term “personal information” refers to information about a living individual that can be used to identify a specific individual by name, contact information such as e-mail address, or other description (personal identification information).

Article 2 (Method of Collecting Personal Information)

Website may ask for personal information such as name and e-mail address when a user registers to use Website. In addition, Website may collect transaction records and payment information, including personal information, between users and partners from the Website’s partners (including information providers, advertisers, and advertisement distributors, etc.; hereinafter referred to as “Partners”).

Article 3 (Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information)

The purposes for which Website collects and uses personal information are as follows

  • To provide and operate Services on Website
  • To respond to inquiries from users (including to verify the identity of the user)
  • To contact users as necessary to inform them of the completion or failure of registration, maintenance, and other important notices.
  • To identify users who have violated the Terms of Use or who are attempting to use Service for fraudulent or unjust purposes, and to refuse their use of Service.
  • To allow users to view, change, or delete their own registered information, or to view the status of their use of Service.
  • For purposes incidental to the above purposes of use.

Article 4 (Change of Purpose of Use)

Website shall change the purpose of use of personal information only when it is reasonably deemed that the purpose of use is relevant to the purpose before the change. In the event of a change in the purpose of use, Website shall notify the user or publicly announce on Website the purpose of use after the change by the method prescribed by Website.

Article 5 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)

Website will not provide personal information to third parties without the prior consent of the users, except in the following cases. However, this excludes cases permitted under the Personal Information Protection Law and other laws and regulations.

  • When it is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual.
  • When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or an individual or entity entrusted by either a national agency or local government to execute affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the individual is likely to impede the execution of the relevant affairs.
  • When the following items are notified or announced in advance by Website
    • The purpose of use includes provision of the information to the third party.
    • Data items to be provided to the third party
    • The means or method of provision to the third party
    • Cessation of provision of personal information to the third party at the request of the person concerned.

Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, in the following cases, the party to which the information is provided shall not fall under the category of a third party.

  • When Website outsources all or part of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  • When personal information is provided as a result of the succession of business due to a merger or other reasons
  • When personal information is to be jointly used with a specific person, and this fact and the following information are notified to the person in advance or are made readily known to the person in advance. (1) the items of personal information to be jointly used, (2) the scope of the joint users, (3) the purpose of use of the joint users, and (4) the name or title of the person who is responsible for managing the personal information.

Article 6 (Disclosure of Personal Information)

When Website is requested by an individual to disclose his/her personal information, it will disclose such information to the individual. However, it may decide not to disclose all or part of the information in any of the following cases, and if it decides not to disclose the information, it will notify him/her to that effect.

  • If there is a risk of harm to the life, body, property, or other rights or interests of the person concerned or a third party
  • If there is a risk of causing significant hindrance to the proper conduct of its business
  • If it violates any other laws or regulations.

Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, as a general rule, Website will not disclose non-personal information, such as historical information and characteristic information.

Article 7 (Correction and Deletion of Personal Information)

In case a user’s personal information held by Website is incorrect, the user may request Website to correct, add, or delete his/her personal information according to the procedures specified by Website. If the Company deems it necessary to respond to the user’s request as described in the preceding paragraph, it shall correct, etc. such personal information without delay.

Article 8 (Suspension of Use of Personal Information, etc.)

If an individual requests to stop the use or delete (hereinafter referred to as “Suspension of Use, etc.”) his/her personal information on the grounds that it has been handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or that it has been obtained by wrongful means, Website will conduct the necessary investigation. If, based on the results of the investigation described in the preceding paragraph, it is deemed necessary to comply with the request, Website will cease use of the relevant personal information.
If it is difficult to suspend the use of personal information due to the large cost involved or other reasons, and alternative measures can be taken to protect the rights and interests of the user, then these alternative measures will be taken.

Article 9 (Changes to Privacy Policy)

The contents of Policy may be changed without notice to the user, except as otherwise provided by law or otherwise in Policy. Unless otherwise specified by Website, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect from the time it is posted on Website.

Article 10 (Copyright and Portrait Rights)

The text, images, and all content on Website are protected by copyright and portrait rights. Any unauthorized use or diversion is prohibited.
